Book Club Response #1

For Fun Home , I predict that Alison will embark on a journey to find her identity. Her relationship with her family and friends will shape the way see interacts with the world and how she views society. Since Alison is a lesbian, she will struggle to tell her father especially because they have a strained relationship. Throughout the book, I predict Alison will face many challenges regarding her identity and personality.

Labor Journal #8

This week I spent most of my time for this class writing my intro and body paragraph. It took me a little longer for me to come up with my paragraph and intro cease I debated whether I wanted to center my paper on nutrients of Veganism, ethical reasons, or just combine the topics. In this class there were no new main take aways for me. Nothing much was new to me  I kind of expected what we were going to do for that day. My labor this week was minimal. Just because of sleep deprivation. I am a little behind on my research paper. In the future I plan to organize my sources more effectively and of course get more sleep so I can be more alert and motivated to do work. My labor plan for this break is to write my whole research paper as a rough draft so when I come back I will only need to make little edits, depending on the feedback I get. I also plan to order my book club book and read that and take my time analyzing that.

Quick Write

So far I have not fully constructed my paragraph. I have started with the process of writing the first few sentences but was stuck with how to continue with the paragraph. I had trouble with making it flow and incorporating the article in. Since we are writing our body paragraphs first it was knew to me. Without the introduction I really did not know what to start my first paragraph off as. The mind map did help though.

This week I spent most of my time for this class researching articles because I could not find a suitable choice. I spent the last few minutes for the articles were due to check and make sure that the articles I had were matching or at least similar with the standard. I also spent time citing my sources and found that I had to change my question a little and omit some because they didn't fit with the information I fond in the articles. My take aways definitely learning how to narrow my search options. When I searched the results were quite general. Through repetition I managed to find less vague sources. I was not sure if we had to have 3 popular sources and 1 scholarly because I have more scholarly articles than popular. This week I felt I was a little behind I did miss some assignments however during my spare time I had the chance to catch upon my incomplete assignments. I would definelty start writing things down just so I can remember to perform the task. For my book club c...

Sources With abstract/ Inquiry question

Q:How is the vegan diet beneficial for humans?     Why are people so ignorant towards the vegan diet? Source #1: Health Effects of Vegan Diets Citation: Winston J Craig; Health effects of vegan diets,  The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition , Volume 89, Issue 5, 1 May 2009, Pages 1627S–1633S,  https://doi.org/10.3945/ajcn.2009.26736N Abstract:"  Recently, vegetarian diets have experienced an increase in popularity. A vegetarian diet is associated with many health benefits because of its higher content of fiber, folic acid, vitamins C and E, potassium, magnesium , and many phytochemicals and a fat content that is more unsaturated. Compared with other vegetarian diets, vegan diets tend to contain less saturated fat and cholesterol and more dietary fiber. Vegans tend to be thinner, have lower serum cholesterol, and lower blood pressure, reducing their risk of heart disease. However, eliminating all animal products from the diet increases the risk of certa...

This week I focused on finding my sources. I think it was difficult finding sources for veganism because the topic is general. But discussing with my group, I managed to narrow my choices. It was also difficult to find sources because all the links I clicked on on the SFSU database didn't really have links that provided full text. I ventured onto google scholar and found some other helpful resources as well. The most interesting source to me was my third source, " Health effects of vegan diets". I have yet to read this source however I liked how the article focused on the health aspects of veganism. Overall,  I could have put more time into finding my  sources because I felt like I rushed it a little but I still managed to find sources I will use in my paper.

Labor Journal 4

1. This week for this class I decided to change my topic to veganism. I just searched popular sources for my topic.  I forgot to do one of the reading as well. 2. My main take-away is to have better time management, I think that is something that I will continuously work on in addition to advocating for myself when I run into a problem. My classes have been taking most of my time during  the day and when I go work at night it leaves me little time to do other stuff. So gradually, I have learned to know what my limits are instead of giving myself too many tasks at once. 3. This week's labor was not as intense as my other classes. Next week, I think I could try to look and stay on top of the readings. 4. About my topic.. K-I know being vegan is when you do not use or consume animal products not just better for environment but health. W-I want to know why people won't do any research on veganism and will just assume stereotypes. I guess I want to find out how I can educat...
