Anzaldúla Q/D #13

"Ethnic identity is twin skin to linguistic identity- I am my language. Until I can take pride in my language, I cannot take pride in myself"(pg.7, Para, 26)

In most places in America, many people who come from a different background are teased because they pronounce some English words a little differently. Regardless, I feel English is a universal language that can be expressed in many way. I can relate when Anzadúla emphasizes the importance of taking pride in ones own language. Growing up, I have always restrained myself from speaking Chinese because I felt it was embarrassing. However, through a series of events, I have steadily learned to take pride in my language.
