Q/D #11 Amy Tan

"But I do think that the language spoken in the family, especially in immigrant families which are more insular, plays a large role in shaping the language of the child."(Para.14)

In my case, I do not feel my parents have impacted the way I speak English. I believe my siblings and my environment played a bigger part in my ability to speak English. At home, my parents and I only speak in Taishanese. Most of my habits of speech come from my communicating with my siblings since I spend most of my time with them.
