Labor Journal # 11

This week I spent my time finishing up my essay then brainstorming ways to write my conclusion. In class I got some ideas to do my "so what". I now have a general guide and structure to my conclusions.
My takeaway was learning that a conclusion is not just a summary. A conclusion is restating your main points and telling your readers why your paper is important to them and to the author. As of right now, I feel my conclusion is incomplete but will work on it. To do things differently I will think about my conclusion first as a way to see if that method works for me. I feel this paper is very experimental. For example the process was broken up into several parts which I was surprised by.

It would be very helpful to extend the deadline by one week. Even though there was a lot of time to do essay 2 sometimes we life just gets in the way. To add, it would be useful to use the extra week to revise our content.

Book Club Response #1 "The Hundred Secret Senses"

Q: How does the character form your book 'read the world' so far? A:    Before Olivia's dad died of kidney failure, he revealed he had another daughter in China from his first marriage. Kwan is the name of the sister who is from China. Olivia never felt loved by her mother who was always going out leaving Kwan to take care of Olivia and her siblings. For this reason Olivia resented Kwan because she was more of a mother than her own mother. Overtime Kwan influenced Olivia's imagination or stories and eventually she even learned Chinese reluctantly. Olivia reads the world by how Kwan always influenced and stuck with Olivia. Olivia narrates the times she spent with her sister and re-experieces that by re-telling her experiences. Kwan always shared her beliefs with Olivia and that shaped who she is as the person who is narrating from the future.
